Extensification date
DEFRA has announced the third check date for the Extensification Payment Scheme 2001.
The scheme, introduced in Jan 2000, requires participants to fill in declaration forms relating to the total number of bovine livestock units on their holdings on six "check" dates.
Dates are announced retrospectively and for the first half of year are as follows: Feb 19, Apr 17 and June 22.
Payment rates have yet to be finalised, but the ministry is predicting that after modulation farmers will receive £39.55 for every livestock unit where stocking densities are below 1.6lu/ha. If densities are below or equal to 2lu/ha the rate will be £19.77/lu. *
