Farmers to sue French over beef ban

THE National Farmers Union has said it will take France to one of the countrys top courts over its refusal to lift its ban on British beef.

This warning came after a warning issued to French prime minister Lionel Jospin passed unheeded, reports the Financial Times.

The NFU believes that France, which takes over the presidency of the European union next month, is unfit to lead Europe while the ban is in place.

Mr Jospin was given until Monday (June 5) to reply.
