Finnie speaks up for pigs in Brussels
SCOTTISH rural affairs minister Ross Finnie is making another trip to Brussels to make a special case for the pig sector in the face of mounting evidence of a serious crisis in the industry.
The minister has been told that producers are now losing £14 a head and that the industry had seen an 18% decline since June.
Don Curry, chairman of the Meat and Livestock Commission, told the minister that “future of the Scottish pig industry is at stake”.
