Fire wrecks factory
A BIG fire has totally devastated the factory and offices of Norfolk-based broiler processor Banham Poultry, causing damage estimated at £30m.
Within hours, broiler companies throughout the eastern counties were in touch, offering help in dealing with the 360,000 head weekly throughput. As such, disruption to the market has been minimal, with most of the birds now being processed at nearby Penwood Poultry.
The 100 staff on site, and all the birds waiting to be processed, were evacuated safely. *
