Food Standards Agencys pledge
THE head of the new Food Standards Agency John Krebs will stress that the consumer will be at the heart of all its decisions on Monday (Apr 3) – the agencys first working day.
Prof Krebs is likely to say that a clear commitment to serve the best interests of consumers and operate in an open and independent way will be at the heart of all the agencys activities.
However, he will add that as a new agency it will have to prove itself to the public and other stake holders.
Speaking to farmers weekly prior to the launch, an FSA spokesman said the agency will act in the interests of consumers by following three core values.
"It will put the consumer first, be open and accessible and be an independent voice." *
