FWCwalk on

the Wye side

MEMBERS travelled from Cumbria, Kent, Lincolnshire, Wales, Yorkshire, and Worcester-shire for our FWC Ross-on-Wye walking weekend, accompanied by a few brave husbands.

The first afternoon we enjoyed a gentle stroll around Ross and took afternoon tea beside the river.

Next day the first serious walk took us over the hill through the woods to Weston under Penyard where we had been invited by South Hereford member Joan Greenway for morning coffee. In true FWC tradition Joan and her fellow members supplied us with all the sustenance we needed for our return walk – a fantastic array of food for 20 walkers. That afternoon we were joined by several Gloucester members and such was the camaraderie that anyone seeing this group of walkers would think wed all known each other for years.

However by Saturday morning wed lost a few of the party to the Ross cattle market and Hay on Wye pony sales but the remainder walked.

Bridstow harvest festival on Sunday morning rounded off this most enjoyable walking weekend, probably the first of many.
