Gangrene control
TRIALS over the past two seasons confirm the efficacy of two dust formulations of thiabendazole in controlling gangrene and silver scurf in stored ware potatoes. Hykeep and Hytec Super, which also contains tecnazene to prevent sprouting during storage, reduced gangrene by an average of 85%, says manufacturer Agrichem. That compared favourably with 85.5% by a standard liquid formulation. For silver scurf the dust reduced infection by 60.4% after five months storage.
