THE owners of the Gaucho Grill steakhouse chain are to push on with European expansion despite the BSE scare, reports The Independent.
Gioma Restaurants runs 36 restaurants in the UK, the Netherlands and Switzerland, plans to open a further 10-12 outlets in three countries this year.
Meanwhile, Canada and the USA have banned imports of Brazilian beef, citing concerns about BSE, reports the Financial Times.
Canadian official said Brazil had not provided information on cattle testing, but admitted there was no evidence of the disease.
Canada denied the move was linked to a separate dispute over subsidies for aircraft manufacturers.
