GM crops may feed world — bishop

HUMANITY must not ignore natures potential – including genetically modified technology, claims the Bishop of Ely.

In an interview with Professor Steve Jones of University College London in The Daily Telegraph, Dr Anthony Russell outlines why he supports GM trials.

Dr Russell, who worked for 15 years at the National Agricultural Centre, says GM technology may prove vital in feeding in the worlds population.

The Bishop says farmings effect on biodiversity and the pollution of water by fertilisers concern him more than GM crops.
