Gornal herd is popular choice

THE Gornal herd of Philip and Sue Davies from Llanymynech had a field day at the annual Wexham Cup show and sale organised by the Western Holstein Club at Crewe.

They accounted for four of the top eight prices including the two top priced lots. Gornal Black Marker (by Fatal) and Gornal Administrator (by Robthom M Discovery) have the same grand-dam – the twice 12,000kg Gornal Spot Ada 32nd (by Cal-Clark Board Chairman) – and made 3600gns and 2900gns respectively. Buyers were JR and ML Edge, Middlewich, Cheshire and F Mycock and Sons, Buxton, Derbys.

Wexham Cup winner – based on type and production scores of the dam – was Weeton Bailey, an Eastview Influence son from John Loftus. Buyer at 1400gns was JH Sloan and Sons, Ayrshire. Gornal Administrator was reserve.

Averages: 60 bulls £945. (Wright-Manley) &#42
