Grainfarmers expands eastwards

GRAINFARMERS, the UKs largest farmer-owned grain business, is to buy Sherriff Grain from IAWS, effective from 1 December, for an undiscloed sum.

Royston-based Sherriff Grain trades about 190,000t of grain per year across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Hertfordshire.

“This is an excellent geographical fit with our existing East Anglian business and will enhance our ability to service the requirements of our end-user customers,” says Tim Pollock, managing director of Grainfarmers.

IAWS UK managing director, Joe Reid, adds that farmers will benefit from greater flexibility and a much wider range of marketing opportunities.
