Grampian cuts 600 jobs
THE Grampian Country Food Group, one of Britains biggest food producers, is to shed more than 600 jobs in the new year as the crisis in the pig industry continues.
The company, which employs more than 11,500 and has a turnover in excess of £1 billion, has been losing millions of pounds in the manufacture of pig products.
Its pig breeding operation alone has lost £2.8m in the past year.
Redundancies will take place across the groups sites in the UK.
