Grave concern about Farming Today future
PROPOSALS to review the future of the BBC Radio 4s Farming Today programme have been criticised by farming groups.
Ewen Cameron, CLA president, said that it was another example of the 13m rural dwellers being ignored.
The NFU, which described the programme as a key broadcast for the agriculture industry, said that any move to axe the programme would fly in the face of considerable public interest in food and farming.
A Farmers Union of Wales spokesman said that the union had received a lot of letters from members expressing grave concern about the future of the programme.
"Farming Today has assumed an authoritative reputation as a purveyor of news and comment on the farming industry. Its loss would be a retrograde step." *
