Green sheep dip disposal
USED sheep dip can be successfully disposed of using a new technique which is both environmentally friendly and cost-effective.
The effectiveness of electrode membranes in breaking down toxic substances into carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water has been confirmed in 18 months of trials , says EA technology.
When this technique is used for sheep dip, the insecticide component is destroyed rapidly at a cost of only 0.4p/litre. Phenolic-type sheep dips can also be treated effectively, but at a higher cost.
The tests were funded by a grant from Biffaward, a scheme where contributions from the landfill tax credit scheme are used for environmental projects. *
