Heifers in demand

A BUMPER entry and a big crowd produced an average of £720 for first quality heifers when almost 120 pedigree Holstein cattle were offered at Uttoxeters monthly sale.

A newly calved heifer by Pinebreck Inspiration Tasman made the top price of 820gns for Tenbury Wells, Worcs, vendor Neil Jackson. Buyers were Messrs Bloore, Pipegate, Shropshire.

A large consignment of calved heifers from the Essex-based Radleygreen herd owned by Miss CA Moody sold to £800 for a daughter of Browndale Stardust and out of a 10,700kg dam. Buyer was Ben Elkin for his Milwich herd.

Leading the cows was a Wilowna entry from the Parkinson family from Rugeley, Staffs. This fresh second calver by Raider made £770 to D Onions, Wysall, Notts.
