Hill farmers in peril, warns NFU

HILL farming has a precarious future, the National Farmers Union will warn today. The union is to publish results of a survey of hill-farming members at the launch of its annual campaign to inprove Hill Livestock Compensatory Allowances.

The union fears that £60m-worth of help granted to hill farmers last year to help them cope with the BSE crisis will be withdrawn this year.
