&#8226 JUNIOR farm minister Jeff Rooker has announced that government is still considering a public inquiry into BSE very carefully, but that no decision had yet been made.

Responding to a parliamentary written question from Ian Gibson (Labour, Norwich North), Mr Rooker promised that an announcement would be made when government had reached a conclusion.

Dr Gibson told FW that he would like to see a inquiry set up immediately, claiming it was essential that lessons were learnt from the BSE saga.
