&#8226 INCIDENTS involving the poisoning of animals and birds by pesticides fell last year to 651 cases, compared with 735 in 1995. MAFFs advisory committee on pesticides this week reported that 11 successful prosecutions were made during 1996, with fines and costs totalling £17,840 awarded.
