IN BRIEF
• PIG breeders in Northern Ireland now have the chance to market boars through Antrim-based Pig Industry Genetics.
The industry owned company has opened a £200,000 boar marketing house adjacent to its existing testing station for use by breeders to market boars on completion of tests – avoiding the risk of spread of disease when potential buyers visit their farms.
For commercial pig producers, PIG claims its new marketing service offers a one stop facility to view tested boars.
