IN BRIEF

uA BIG co-operative venture to improve marketing of beef and lamb from the northern uplands has been launched. Co-ordinated by the Northern Development Co, the two-year project to develop the Northern Uplands Red Meat Chain will operate in Tynedale, the Wear Valley, Teesdale, Richmondshire and Craven. Farmers, auctioneers, butchers, food processors, retailers and consumers will work together to try to forge improved links between suppliers and retailers.

uANIMAL feed supplement manufacturer Denis Brinicombe has opened a new complex at its Crediton, Devon, site to cope with increasing customer demand. The decision to build was taken two years ago when sales of the companys supplements started to exceed the capabilities of the old plant. The company supplies 11,000 UK customers directly, and also sells at home and abroad through the trade. It also offers advice through a mineral clinic. &#42
