&#8226 WINNER of this years BSAS/RSPCA award, presented for outstanding contribution to the science of animal welfare, is David Henderson. Recently retired from the Moredun Research Institute, he is also a member of the Farm Animal Welfare Council.

The award was presented for his research and communication with the farming industry.

&#8226 UNIVERSITY of Reading researcher Chris Reynolds has won this years BSAS Sir John Hammond Memorial Award for outstanding contribution to animal science. The award recognises his contribution to the understanding of nutrient metabolism in growing and lactating ruminants, and his commitment to applying these findings to the livestock industry.
