IN BRIEF
uAUCTIONEERS and surveyors Dreweatt Neate and Alder King are to merge their practices from Jan 1. The new firm, which will operate under the Dreweatt Neate name, will have 24 partners and 250 staff at offices across the south and south-west, and will continue to auction livestock at Chippenham and Winford markets. Alder King specialises in farm, estate and development land sales, and in rural professional work, and Dreweatt Neates business includes specialist planning, architectural and land development services.
uSAVINGS of more than £70,000 are anticipated next year by the Scottish NFU as a result of its move from an unincorporated association to that of a company limited by guarantee. The savings will come from the organisations ability to reclaim VAT, although the change will mean that the tax will, from next year, be added to subscription fees. Members will be asked to adopt the constitutional changes formally at the next annual general meeting in March 2001. *
