In-calf heifer fetches 2000gns
By FWi staff
IN-CALF heifer Coolnaslee Prudence topped the trade at 2200gns (2310) when 31 Charolais females were offered at the Northern Ireland Charolais Clubs show and sale at Portadown.
Consigned by Maghera breeder Gilbert Crawford, Prudence is by Derrygiff Mills and was in-calf to the 10,000gns Roundshill Ohoh.
Her good looks won her the reserve championship ticket, but she combined conformation with outstanding performance figures.
She has a beef value of 30 which puts her in the top 10% of the breed.
Buyer was John McMordie, Ballygowan.
Vendor Mr Crawford made it a double when herdmate Coolnaslee Poise, also by the Derrygill sire and in-calf to Ohoh, realised 2000gns to C McGlinchey, Omagh, after taking the female championship.
