TO ease the swift refurbishment of the milking parlour at Yeaton Peverey Farm, Bomere Heath, near Shrewsbury the in-milk stock from the Mosc herd was sold last week levelling the 72 cows at £512.
The 125 head offered by Steve Offland, who intends to begin milking again early next year, sold to 780gns given by J Millington, Oswestry for Mosc Royal Twist, a second calver by Daystar giving 47kg a day.
Kilby, Leics buyer KP Stevens paid 760gns for Mosc Lucky Kate 2nd, a second calver by Second-Look Jolt and out of a Broker dam, that gave 8600kg as a heifer. He also gave 750gns for Mosc Recoil Playmate, sired by a home-bred Prelude bull and with the heavy milking 12,300kg Embryoworld Valiant Playmate as grand-dam.
Averages: 72 cows £512; 44 milking heifers £528 and seven in-calf heifers £550 (Wright-Manley). *
