Intervention Yes to UK beef
BEEF market managers in Brussels have surprised the trade, accepting over 2000t of UK beef and another 2330t from the Irish Republic into intervention at their most recent tender.
The decision came just two weeks after the commission suspended intervention. Officials said it was being reopened in the light of difficult market conditions.
But the Meat and Livestock Commission said it would make little difference to prices due to the low volume accepted.
, the tight cut-off price (180p/kg dw) and the fact there is not another tender for five weeks.
