AN Irish research company hopes a post-mortem test it has developed to detect BSE infection can be used to reassure consumers concerned over the safety of beef. The test has been described as a breakthrough by the Irish department of agriculture, which has given the go-ahead for it to undergo further trials in Irish meat plants. *
