Islands urge bee movements ban
THE Scottish Office has asked beekeepers to stop all bee movements to the islands in an attempt to combat the spread of, varroa, the deadly mite that has almost wiped out bee colonies across Europe.
The department was responding to a request by beekeepers in Shetland, Orkney and the Hebrides.
A ban has already been imposed on all bee movements out of Fife and the Dumfries and Galloway regions.
