JUDGES READY THEMSELVES
FOR THE TOUGH TASK AHEAD
ONE of Scotlands top prime stock exhibitors, Archie MacGregor, will have the task of judging the beef cattle classes and championships at this years Scottish National Winter Fair in Perth.
Mr MacGregor, Allanfauld, Kilsyth, scooped the supreme championship at Smithfield last year with Clansman, a 12-month old Limousin cross steer.
The other cattle judges at the winter fair will be John Anderson from North Berwick, who will place the butchers cattle and pairs, and Jim Ford from Broxburn, who will have the task of choosing the best live animals in the Scottish National Premier Meat Exhibition.
In that competition, Dennis Andrews, Kent, will judge the cattle carcasses, while French judge Andre Huygue will select the winning lamb carcass after the live judging has been completed by George Purvis from Biggar.
The winter fair sheep classes and championship will be judged by Yorks farmer Michael Field, with pigs placed by Walter Blake, Caldron Brae, Kelso.
