Lightening up workshop…

FED up with being kept in the dark when carrying out winter maintenance in the workshop?

Spaldings has introduced a telescopic Halogen site light into its Truecraft range of workshop tools.

Powered by a 230V single-phase supply, the 500W lamp is contained within a cast aluminium housing which has a steel shield to prevent lens damage.

A telescopic tripod is designed to enable the lamp to be used at various working heights and the head can be tilted to adjust the pitch of the beam. Supplied with foldable legs, the site light is priced at £25 (01522-500600).

High profile for petrol-powered pruner

COUNTAX offers a range of Echo petrol-powered pruners which enable small branches to lopped off from ground level without having to use a stepladder.

The PPT2400 Pruner is powered by a 24cc engine and is designed for trimming branches 6.6m (22ft) above ground level using a 30cm (12in) chainsaw bar.

The entry-level PPSR-2433 model offers a 1.37m (54in) reach and a 30cm (12in) bar for thinning young woods and trimming hedges.

Both models feature an automatic bar lubrication system, while a centrally mounted exhaust is claimed to allow left and right-handed operation. The PPT2400 and PPSR-2433 are priced at £495 and £399, respectively. (01844-278800) www.countax.com

Pump sucks up range of liquids

HONDAs WMP20X 5cm (2in) multi-purpose pump is designed to handle a range of liquids from salt water to industrial chemicals.

Powered by a 5hp four-stroke engine, the pump features a glass-fibre rather than aluminium housing which is claimed to be more corrosion proof for handling caustic liquids.

The WMP20X can pump liquids such as herbicides, insecticides, acids and fertilisers, according to Honda.

Running at a maximum 3500rpm, WMP20X is designed to pump up to 833 litres/min from a suction head of 8m (27ft).

The pump weighs 25kg and has a continuous running time rated at 2 hours 15 minutes, says Honda. Price is £560. (01753-590500)

Handy sprayer

LIGHTWEIGHT, portable and easy to operate, is how Allman describes its latest hand-held Little Atom sprayer.

Powered by a 110V or 220V motor, the sprayer is designed for applying insecticide or fungicide in buildings including grain stores, dairies, poultry houses and stables.

The sprayer is equipped with a 15-litre tank, while a variable flow control device is designed to adjust mist density up to 15 litres/min at a 7m maximum discharge distance.

Allman says a 5-litre tank mix of low volume spray is enough to treat a 4500cu m building.

Weighing 3.5kg dry, the Little Atom sprayer is priced at £242.

Keeping down water pressure pays off

BERKS based Honeywell Control Systems supplies a water pressure-reducing valve which is claimed to offer high resistance against corrosion.

The D15P valve features an epoxy powder coating which is applied to the inside and outside of the valve body to ensure long-term and reliable operation in underground conditions, according to the manufacturer.

Available in bore sizes from 50-200mm (2-8in), the valve has a maximum inlet pressure rated at 16bar, with outlet pressures ranging from 1.5 to 8bar.

Honeywell says the D15P valve helps to reduce water consumption and repair costs by protecting installations against excessive pressures. (01344-656000)
