Lifting German ban will take time — Brown
by FWi staff
GERMANYS ban on British beef will take some time to lift because of constitutional procedures, farm minister Nick Brown has admitted.
Speaking during a debate on agriculture in the House of Commons on Thursday, Mr Brown warned there could be a wait before the ban was lifted.
The German federal government was “proceeding in good faith”, but it also had to deal with the regional Lander to allow the ban to be lifted, he said.
And this would take time because the regional authorities were not controlled by the same party as the federal government.
Opposition MPs called for legal proceedings to be launched against Germany.
