Linola proves its worth as a break

LINOLA – the edible version of spring-sown linseed – has proved its value as a good break crop, according to a recent survey of growers.

Compiled by Nickerson Seeds, the survey shows crops were harvested in good conditions , yielding up to 2.2t/ha (0.9t/acre) with oil contents reaching 44.1%.

"For the grower, Linola offers a better return than traditional linseed from the same inputs," says Mike Wenham of Nickerson Seeds. "Linola is being jointly promoted by Nickerson Seeds, John K King and United Oilseed."

s, all of which are offering commercial contracts for 1997.
