Looking to increase organic milk sales

INCREASED organic milk sales and more cash from the rural development part of the CAP are the main aims of the newly formed Alliance of European Organic Milk Producers.

Instigated by the UKs Organic Milk Suppliers Co-operative, which commands an 85% share of the domestic market, the new alliance draws together similar groups from France, Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Chief executive of OMSCo, Sally Bagenal, said the organisation wanted to strengthen the organic dairy market EU-wide and get more land under organic production. Producers should also maintain control of their marketing and ensure that the below-cost-of-production sales tactics affecting conventional milk did not spread. &#42
