Luke is US number one
US sires fall by an average £7 PIN on the latest converted proofs taken from the US type and production (TPI) list out this week.
The ADC has updated the official US conversion in the light of the new US and UK evaluations.
The latest TPI lists sees Cleitus son Luke enter the top 100 with the addition of the first second crop daughters to his proof. He becomes the highest TPI ranked US bull available in the UK.
Luke, out of a Rotate cow, has a UK conversion at 83% reliability of 1201kg milk, 20kg (-0.39%) fat, 32kg (-0.09%) protein and £104 PIN. His US predicted transmitting ability for type (PTAT) is 1.92.
Also a newcomer to the top 100 is the Leadman son Barlo, out of a Royalty cow, and in at number three. His UK conversion, at 65% rel is 1285kg milk, 24kg (-0.37%) fat, 33kg (-0.09%) protein and PIN of £110. His PTAT is 1.57. Fourth is another Leadman son, Formation, from a Chief Mark cow. He moves up from sixth in July, when he was the top newcomer on TPI, and has a UK proof at 70% rel of 1169kg milk, 23kg (-0.33%) fat, 29kg (-0.10%) protein and £97 PIN. His PTAT has improved from 2.22 to 2.56.
Also improving his position in the rankings is the Melwood son Bellwood with a UK conversion at 71% rel of 1193kg milk, 33kg (-0.18%) fat, 31kg (-0.08%) protein and £110 PIN. His PTAT is 1.34.
Still in the top 10 is the Blackstar son Patron, high on production (£101 PIN) and one of the top US udder bulls at 2.94.
Close behind is another newcomer to the list, the Aerostar son Wade (£95 PIN), boasting a PTAT for type of 2.4 and also scoring well for udders at 2.47.
Highest ranked US bull on PIN is Mascot at £141 PIN (see p42).
Second highest on PIN, and top newcomer to the TPI list after Luke, is Cubby Checkmate. His UK proof is 1164kg milk, 31kg (-0.19%) fat, 34kg (-0.02%) protein and £122 PIN, now the fifth highest PIN bull available in the UK.
Other high PIN newcomers to the TPI top 20 are the Southwind son Wells Catalyst (£111 PIN) and the Tesk son Rubytom (£95 PIN), with a type score of 2.03 PTAT.
Still performing well on PIN is Bristol (£113 PIN); Wister son Goldfinger (£112 PIN); Ingot £111 PIN; and Mountain, (£110 PIN).n
