Make-believe murder, war memorabilia andMinster
MORE than a hundred Farmlife readers gathered in York for our annual February weekend break. Although the weather left a lot to be desired it didnt dampen spirits and we learned a lot about the city from our guided walking tours on Saturday morning.
The Murder, Mystery Evening proved to be a great success and amazingly enough quite a number of people managed to follow the plot and realised it was the butcher who dun it! A bit of a disappointment to some of the menfolk as Babs the barmaid from the Feathers seemed to be favourite.
Eden Camp at Malton on Sunday morning was a fascinating place to visit and our three-and-a-half hours was barely long enough to study all the exhibits in this converted prisoner of war camp full of memorabilia from the Second World War. We had lunch in the canteen, good wholesome stew and dumplings washed down with mugs of tea.
The weekend rounded off for most of us with evensong in York Minster.
Next Year we will probably be heading west to Salisbury.
