MHS drops ‘assault’ proceedings

THE Meat Hygiene Service has dropped legal proceedings against Herefordshire abattoir owner John Mead.
This was confirmed in a letter to Mr Mead, formerly joint manager of Eardisley-based Mead Webber, in a letter from MHS chief executive Johnston McNeill.
Mr Mead was accused of assaulting and obstructing MHS vet Richard Turner who he blamed for the closure of the plant in April.
