Milk Marque in pilot to move milk by rail

Milk Marque is assessing the benefits of moving milk by rail. It launched a
one-month trial in moving tankers from Penrith, Cumbria to central London. This
is the first time that the mode of transport has been used in nearly 25 years.

Exel Logistics Tankfreight is managing the experiment. It is using a piggyback
tanker wagon which Tiphook developed. Direct Rail Services is providing
locomotives and crew.
