Milling machinery firm Buhler restructures

BUHLER is restructuring its food industry plant and equipment business to help it survive the next century. The company is the world leader in flour-milling machinery.

Urs Buhler, chief executive, has disbanded the group management team and taken direct control of the chemical process, die-casting, food-manufacturing and purchasing divisions.

Business units will be given greater operational autonomy. Administrative services will be decentralised. The business hopes to boost its earnings by SFr70m ($50 million/£31m) a year.
