Ministry conference explores IT
By FWi staff
E-COMMERCE and farming will be under discussion at a special Ministry of Agriculture conference on Tuesday (16 January).
Delegates will explore what the ministry can do to make the most of information technology.
A recent ministry report showed that between half and two-thirds of farmers already have computers.
Junior Agriculture minister Joyce Quin told the BBC Radio 4 Farming Today programme that IT was a vital part of the future for farming.
She saw opportunities in ebusiness and in MAFF plans to shift subsidy claims to the Internet.
