Mixed prices for cattle

Finished cattle prices were mixed this week although generally down.
Light steers held their price averaging 84.37p/kg liveweight but medium steers took the largest fall of the week, down 2.45 pence at 85.30p/ kg. Heavy steers were down slightly at 86p.
The throughput of heifers crept up 6 percent at markets on Monday, but prices eased only slightly leaving final prices all put unchanged at about 87p/ kg.
Medium weight young bulls took the heaviest slump in prices falling 1.61p to 90.09p/kg.
The Meat and Livestock Commission reported an increased throughput of 30 percent earlier in the week for lightweight young bulls, but prices remained relatively stable at 89.45p/ kg.
