New machine to reduce agri-chemical threat?
A MACHINE which promises to cut the potato industrys agri-chemical threat to the environment has been launched in Scotland.
The Drackendon Greenburner burns down potato plants using propane before harvest, without the usual application of sulphuric acid.
The first machine has been taken on trial by AF Murray of Blackden, Aberlemno, by Brechin. Murray grows 146ha of seed, ware and salad potatoes in Angus and Mearns.
