LATEST new product to get the thumbs-up for use on malting barley is plant growth regulator trinexapac-ethyl (Moddus).

The decision from the Brewers and Licensed Retailers Association was made following evaluation of grain from treated crops by the Brewing Research Foundation, says maker Novartis.

Even when applied at high doses Moddus had no impact on grain nitrogen, germination or malting. The BLRA has imposed no limits on application timing.
