Pakistan agricultural production set to rise

AGRICULTURAL production in Pakistan is forecast to rise 5.34% this year, compared with 5.27% last time. But investment is needed to sustain the previous pace of agricultural development.

Prime minister Nawaz Sharifs strategy of offering some of the largest tax breaks ever depends in part on the countrys cotton crop, at least until manufacturing overtakes agriculture.

Successive crop failures in the past three years have increased the price of cotton in the domestic market and export growth has been slow.
