Pesticides survey soon
FIRST contact with farmers in a unique Crop Protection Association survey (Arable, May 25) of spraying equipment and practices is expected "any day now", according to a spokesman.
Meanwhile DEFRA has put out to tender the contract for a similar survey on the uptake of integrated crop management.
The moves follow the first meeting of the steering group set up to monitor progress of the industrys five-year voluntary pesticides stewardship programme.
Survey findings are expected late next spring, when it is hoped they will provide ammunition to fend off any renewed proposals for a pesticides tax. *
