Planners predict exodus to country
THE Town and Country Planning Association is forecasting an exodus of people in search of a new life in market towns and rural communities.
In a challenge to the view that countryside communities face inevitable decline, it suggests that many rural areas stand to gain from changing aspirations.
These could lead urban companies to relocate to the most popular country areas.
The favourite locations are around Cambridge, Stansted in Essex, Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, Swindon in Wiltshire, Ashford in Kent and Crawley in West Sussex.
These locations are popular because they have no “industrial baggage” from the past.
