Poetry makes serious point
AUCTIONEERS in the Midlands have a new weapon in their battle for market share after the demise of Banbury market – poetry.
Dave Bowman, auctioneer at Thrapston mart, put pen to paper for an ad in farmers weekly. "Ode to Farmers," it was called.
"A bit of fun with a serious side to it," says Mr Bowman. "I just started playing around with a few words."
It follows moves by other marts, such as Northampton, Rugby and Thame to collect the ex-Banbury business. What next, recitations from the rostrum? *
