Pure PI Holsteins shine

A keen crowd at Kirkby Thore, Penrith, kept bidding on a lively note, but it was pure Holstein cattle that produced the best trade and included the top call of 6800gns. And the PI Holstein average was three times higher than that achieved by non-PI stock.

Keith Pattinson was in again at 2100gns to pay the days top bid for maiden heifers. His purchase, Parkdown Astre Tammy PI, is out of a Prelude cow that made 3500gns – one of 10 animals taken to Cheshire to add to Geoff Bloods new herd.
Astre Tammys grand-dam, the white 10,000kg Lindy Tammy 2nd, made 4200gns. She was served in October by Paulo-Bro Chevy Caprice.
The five members of the Tammy family, all descended from Whipton Rock Tammy, averaged £4158.
