R-reg tractor sales bustle a non-event

AUGUST, with the introduction of the magical "R" reg is usually the month when tractor sales rocket. This year, perhaps the word rocket is a little strong.

According to figures realeased by the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA), August saw 2480 tractors over 40hp being registered – some 15.2% down on the same month last year.

It is the fourth consecutive month in which sales have fallen when compared with the activity in 1996, and it brings the year to date figure to 11,793, 16% down.
