Rack brake takes the wear off rope

SAFE lowering of heavy tree limbs without rope damage is a feature of the latest arboriculturists systems package from Fujikura Europe.

The package includes a combination of rack brake, braided ropes and pulley blocks, and adjustable straps and webbing.

Key to the package is the rack brake. Using a series of sliding friction bars in a frame, through which rope is passed, the rack brake is designed to allow limbs of up to 4000kg to be lowered under full control.

With a load applied, the friction bars are drawn together to pinch the rope. The brake costs £44. (01373-825582).
