Rapeseed values tumble as Pound strengthens
By FWi staff
OILSEED rape values have fallen sharply over the week on the back of weaker world markets and a further strengthening of the Pound against the Euro and the Dollar.
December deliveries fell to £111.50/t to East Anglia, with Erith at £113.50/t and Liverpool £114/t.
January to March deliveries took a larger, fall dropping as much as £4.50/t to East Anglia, to £112.50/t.
Ex-farm spot values were also lower, at about £106.19/t, while in Scotland they were down to £101/t.
Trading continued to be quiet, with farmers reluctant to sell at these values and crushers well covered pre-Christmas, noted the Home-Grown Cereals Authority in its weekly report.
