Record breakers

A NEW centre record for Limousin bulls was established at Portadown when a feverish spate of bidding by local breeders sent prices to 5400gns for the McAuley familys Carmorn Orbit.

There was standing room only when the impressive May 1998-bred Orbit came into the ring. Auctioneer Tom Clarke was greeted by a flurry of bids for this son of the top winning bull Pelletstown Ken. Orbits Beef value of 22 puts him in the breeds top 10% on this trait.

Described by Mr Clarke as having an "out of this world pedigree", he combines Genereux, Ferry and Circle Rex – Orbit was bought by Eric Patterson and Sons, Tandragee to add to their small herd of pedigree cattle running alongside a commercial unit.

Also enjoying the lively trade was Adrian Richardson, Maguires-bridge who sold a Broadmeadows Cannon/Sebastien bred son from his Ashmara herd at 3650gns.

The McAuley family also sold at 3400gns for another son of the Pelletstown sire. A bull by Dyfri Logic from the Sweetwall herd of Loughanmore Farms, Dunadry made 3100gns. A fast demand for bulls throughout the day saw the 54 deals level at £1756. (Automart). &#42
